Concierge Medicine Q&A

What is concierge medicine?

Concierge medicine (also referred to as membership or private medicine) is a personalized healthcare model that focuses on wellness and preventive care. It allows dedicated professionals like Dr. Esparza at Persona Healthcare to provide a more holistic, well-rounded service that treats every patient as a unique individual.

Unlike traditional practices, where doctors manage large patient loads, Dr. Esparza limits the number of patients he sees. This allows him to devote more time to each person, fostering a stronger doctor-patient relationship and providing a comprehensive, patient-centered approach to healthcare tailored to each person’s unique needs.

In conventional primary care, physicians often face time constraints, longer wait times, and administrative burdens tied to health insurance, leaving less time for patient care. Concierge medicine eliminates these issues.

What does a concierge medicine membership include?

As a concierge patient, you have direct access to Dr. Esparza, including the ability to contact him anytime — day or night — via email or personal cell phone. A concierge medicine membership also offers numerous other benefits, including:

  • Prompt responses to inquiries
  • Extended appointment times
  • Same or next-day appointments
  • Continuity of care
  • Home visits, when necessary
  • Routine checkups
  • Screening tests
  • An annual physical

Dr. Esparza coordinates with specialists and hospital staff as needed to ensure seamless, effective care as you transition between inpatient and outpatient services.

How does concierge membership work?

Concierge membership is payable monthly, or you can pay a lump sum annually upfront.

To enroll, you must complete and submit the appropriate forms. Once enrolled, there are no additional fees for office visits, although certain services may incur separate charges – Persona Healthcare ensures you fully understand what your concierge medicine membership package does and doesn’t include.

The annual membership fee covers services not included under Medicare. For services that Medicare covers, such as sick visits, Dr. Esparza bills Medicare on your behalf, as required by law.

Many of Persona Healthcare’s services are available remotely using secure telemedicine, including acute care, sick visits, and chronic disease management.
